Best Treadle Chicken Feeders
A treadle feeder only opens under a bird's weight, which is the single most effective way to stop feeding the local rat population. Spring tension and lid quietness decide whether the flock will use it.

How this ranking is built — and what it does not claim
Star ratings and rating counts read from each product’s public Amazon page; ranking also uses Best Sellers Rank and Amazon’s review ordering. We show the aggregate star rating and count only — never individual reviewers’ words.
Each product's customer standing score blends these inputs:
- Star rating (45%) — the product's real average rating on Amazon, weighted by how many people rated it (a 5★ from 12 buyers counts for less than a 4.6★ from 3,000).
- Best Sellers Rank (25%) — how many units actually move, on a log scale.
- Catalogue relevance (15%) — how central the product is to the search a keeper would run.
- Live discount (10%) and Amazon's review ordering (5%).
Products that surface in both Amazon's review-ranked and relevance-ranked results earn a corroboration bonus — that overlap is the strongest signal available that a well-regarded product is also the right one for the job.
On the star ratings: we read the aggregate star rating and rating count shown publicly on each product's Amazon page — the two summary numbers, nothing more. We never reproduce an individual reviewer's words, and a product with no rating on Amazon is shown without one rather than with a guessed figure. 10 of the products on this page currently carry a fetched rating.

- Keep Pests Out, Save More Feed | The treadle step opens only while your birds eat, helping block rats, mice, squirrels, and wild birds from stealing feed. Step can also be locked shut overnight with optional step lock. Secure lid latch prevents pest access. A smart automatic chicken feeder for reducing waste in the coop or run
- Cut Waste and Use Any Feed You Like | Grate in the trough stops billing out (birds raking feed onto the ground). Less scattering means less mess and waste. Adjustable internal feed-flow plate sits higher for pellets or lower for crumble and grains, so feed dispenses cleanly with less spill.
- Safe & Right for Your Whole Flock | Detachable step weight lets smaller, lighter birds like bantams and silkies trigger the treadle. Safety blinders guide calm, front-only feeding that keeps birds safe and cuts side spills.
- Built for Long-Term Outdoor Use | Galvanized metal body, stainless-steel hardware, removable rain hood keeps feed dry; perforated step adds grip, sheds raid and loose feed; raised step works on uneven ground; anti-roost lid keeps birds off the top. Large capacity works for larger flocks, longer time between fills
